Facts
The FRI-EL Group originated in a region where hydroelectric power generation played a key role over many decades. Thus, the Group is quite interested in this form of energy generation. The FRI-EL is engaged in the development, realization and operation of hydroelectric power plants. Currently, the company operates 15 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 24.05 MW.
Hydroelectric power uses the kinetic energy of the water to generate electrical energy. A hydraulic turbine is powered by water and the released energy is converted into electrical energy by a generator.

Advantages
Hydroelectric power is considered to be very environmentally friendly because water is only used to generate electricity but it is not wasted.
Since no fossil fuels are used, there are no greenhouse gas emissions.
Hydroelectric power can be used as a “gap filler” for periods when other renewable energy sources are not providing energy (in the absence of wind or at night).
